Filed under: Kitchen — polkadot at 4:03 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2006

Bbrp hari yg lalu, gak ada kerjaan, jadi lah gue nonton 30 Minutes Meal nya Rachael Ray. Ternyata dia bikin Shepherd Pie. Keliatan enak banget, kalo diperhatiin, ya mirip2 lah sama pastel tutupnya Indonesia. Tapi yg ini rasanya lbh creamy gitu deh.. Udah kebayang2 mau cobain bikin, resepnya sampe hafal di otak.. (coba ya, kalo resep aja hafal, kalo pelajaran? NO WAY! kekeke). Ya sud, td ke loblaws buat groceries shopping, jadinya gue beli bahan2nya. Too bad, tadi gue coba search di website-nya Food Network ga bisa ketemu takerannya. Jadi semua pake kira2 aja ya, dan resepnya udah disesuain ama lidah gue yg Indonesia banget ini. hehehe.

Nganggur

Filed under: Journal — polkadot at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2006

Hari ini bener2 nganggur deh.. Kan ceritanya hr ini ga ada kelas..ya uwis, jadinya bangun siang abis, hampir jam 12 siang. iya dong ah.. bayar utang nih, kemaren cuma kebagian tidur 4,5 jam gara2 belajar buat exam.

and guess what? exam-nya sama persis sama taon lalu. GILA! well, gak 100% sama, soalnya taon ini ada 30 multiple-choice, ama 4 short-answer. nah.. kalo taon lalu tuh 20 MC + 3 SA. bener2 ga expect bakal sama persis, soalnya beda professor. Jadi, pas Kuldeep ngasih buat review (dia udah ambil taon lalu), ya gue ga bener2 paid attention sama exam paper dia. Abis pikiran beda professor ini, dan lagian John kayanya creative buat urusan bikin soal exam. Oh la la.. ternyata.. dikau pemalas juga ya, John? ahahaha.. jd ntar test kedua, gue pantengin aja deh tu exam dr Ms. Singh. lol.

Hari ini masak apa ya? Uhm.. bikin nasi siram aja.. sebenernya bukan fave Narto, tapi ga papa lah sekali2 masak makanan ginian. orang rumah doyan sih.. kalo cuma mikirin satu mulut doang, kasian dong yang laennya. hihihi.

Ci_chiu_fan Nasi siram ini, kalo mama nyebutnya sih Ci Chiu Fan. jgn tanya gue
artinya apa. Yang gue tau, Ci itu ayam, Fan itu nasi.. Chiu apa yak? ga
tau. orang spell-nya aja gue gak tau. lol. Yang jelas, dulu mama sering
masak buat babeh kalo kebetulan babeh lagi di Palembang; trs waktu mama
kesini, sering bgt masak buat kita. Yummy sih kalo kata gue, apalg kalo
dimakan pake irisan rawit & kecap yg banyak.. ugh nikmatnya..

Dah ah.. mau mandi, trs baca Philosophy.. msh ada mid satu lagi, kayanya yg paling sulit nih >.<

Nasgor Special

Filed under: Kitchen — polkadot at 5:52 pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2006

It’s funny how ppl change. I can say, i’ve changed a lot since I came here, especially my foods preferences. Looking back to my childhood, i always hated the smell and taste of kecap maggi. I remembered, my mom loves that kecap, and she often made fried rice with this thing..and i would just run from the kitchen because i couldn’t stand the smell of it.

Now, here i am.. in Canada.. and suddenly craved eating fried rice just like my mum used to made. (For Merry, inget dak aku pernah bilang dak suka kecap ini? suddenly..gilee, jd tergila2 bo! hahaha) I’ve been cooking it several times since the last two weeks, and i think it’s time to share the recipe. It’s not exactly like my mum used to make, i made it really simple. Good for people who hate doing so much preps. hehehe.

This recipe may not be suitable for those of you who don’t like the taste and smell of this sauce.

Nasgor_maggi_1Nasi Goreng Maggi

Bahan:
nasi putih, dingin lbh enak
daun bawang, iris tipis (bole diganti bawang merah)
cabe rawit, iris tipis
cabe merah, iris tipis
telor
kecap asin
kecap maggi
gula pasir, sedikit (pengganti vetsin)
merica

Cara Membuat:
1. panaskan minyak, masukkan potongan daun bawang & cabe. taburi sedikit garam. tumis.
2. geser tumisan bawang ke bagian pinggir wajan, masukkan telor, aduk telor jd orak arik.
3. masukkan nasi, aduk terus sampe merata.
4. beri kecap, merica, gula.
5. cicip. pas-kan rasa.

Okay, here’s the deal. I don’t measure what i cook, so it’s all up to you. if you like spicy, put as many chili as you want. You like the taste of kecap maggi, add some more. you love white pepper, throw in as much as you want. There’s no such rules in cooking. So, have fun and enjoy!

PS: The original recipe uses shallot (bawang merah) instead of green onion (daun bawang).

My_way
This is how i eat them. I eat a lot (believe me!), so i just use big bowl to put my rice, and added more of the sauce. Yumm..

probability

Filed under: Journal — polkadot at 6:56 pm on Sunday, October 1, 2006

For those of you who’s good in statistics.. what’s the probability of having two tests in the same day if you only have two courses in one term? Fyi, the maximum of courses you can take in one term are 5.

So, i asked this question to Narto.. whom i can say is a statistician. He said "very small". Yup, that’s what i thought when i was doing my schedule. But too bad.. there’s always a hidden plan in your life. Both of my tests will be on the same day. I came to my philosophy class last tuesday, and the prof said that we’ll have the midterm on October the 10th. So, he laughed out loud when i told him the exams will be on the same day. Damn!

Alrighty. at that time, i was hoping that John (my marketing prof), will give our midterm on the 12th since we already discussed about having the test in the week of 10th october. It could be on the 10th or 12th. Surprisingly, he set the test to October 10, one day after thanksgiving. One of my class said.. "John, 10th is the day after thanksgiving, so Thank you". We all laughed. Yeah.. thanks, John. that’s very nice of you.

UPDATE!!
my philosophy prof, just cancelled the test on the 10th. Well, not cancel it, just postpone it until next week. YIPPIE! At least, i will have more time to study for that thing, especially after hearing what people say about that prof. They said, that course is tough.. I guess i chose the wrong course. hiks..
