packing up..

Filed under: Journal — polkadot at 9:12 pm on Thursday, May 17, 2007

Aahh.. i hate moving!! so many stuffs to be packed up, and it’s not even halfway done. hiks.. Yess.. we’re moving to an apartment after living in this house for 3 years. Can you imagine how many stuffs that we have to pack from a 3 bedrooms house? and how many stuffs we have to sell/throw away since we’re moving to a smaller place. 3 bedrooms house to a two-bedroom apartment. Aaargh!!

our house is such a mess now, boxes everywhere, things everywhere, and i don’t even know where to start packing. I kind of forget how i did it 3 years ago.. and the most problem is i don’t have enough time to pack things up since i work full-time now. I feel like i wanna quit my job, but i can’t .. =(

ah.. better keep on going now..*postingan gak penting bgt ini mah hehehe*

new job

Filed under: Journal — polkadot at 10:20 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2007

I loveee my new job. I’m officially a bartender now.. still working at the same place as before, but i got switched from a hostess to a bartender. I guess i’ve passed being a good hostess, and apparently we need more bartender at the restaurant. I don’t mind learning new things, and i don’t understand why people at work sometimes are just so nosy.. they were wondering why my boss transferred me to be a bartender, and they just ASSUMED that i won’t like it.

Don’t get me wrong. I did feel a little upset that he scheduled me as a bartender without informing me at first, but i didn’t mind at all because i always love learning new things. I already work as a bartender for 7 shifts and so far so good except that bartending really IS a lot more work to do compare to hostessing. We have to open bar, make drinks, do dishes, tide the bar up, make garnishes, sweep and mop floors, and close bars.. but it’s always fun, because you interact more with your coworkers especially the servers and you’ll be able to communicate more with them. As my boss told us, the servers are our customers, so we have to treat them nicely, and i do find when you treat someone nice, they’ll do the same thing. Just remember the golden rule "treat someone as you want to be treated" .. that’s all you need. =)

And the most challenging part about this job is that.. I have no clue at all about alcohol. I dont drink … not even beers. the only thing i know is vodka and how to make shirley temple. That’s how bad i am. even the servers were shocked when they knew i knew ZERO about alcohol . hahaha. but now i’m getting better, and still learning. I already know how to make some cocktails like singapore sling, blue hawaiian, and so on.. and some mocktails like cookie monster, or mango freeze my fave. hihihi.. and i’m still gonna learn some more. ugh.. so excited!!! and i’m so glad that i’ve already known most of the servers when i was a hostess, and now that i’m a bartender .. they help me so much when they come to order drinks that i’ve no clue how to make them… can’t thank enough to them =D

Chiropractic .. cont..

Continue my discussion about chiropractic.. have you ever actually heard or known about this method of treatment? I just searched on wikipedia and this is what i found.

"Chiropractic is a complementary and alternative health care profession with the purpose of diagnosing and treating mechanical disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system with the intention of affecting the nervous system and improving health.[1] It is based on the premise that a spinal joint dysfunction can interfere with the nervous system and result in many different conditions of diminished health. Some chiropractors use the term vertebral subluxation to describe what they treat. Others have dropped this concept and concentrate mostly on the musculoskeletal components of spinal injury and rehabilitation of the spine."

I do find it is helpful and beneficial for me.. a lot better than physiotherapy but it is not as effective as the one that i got from Dr. Huang. I’ve been having this knees problem since last July, and did pyhsio for almost 5 months with almost no result. Few months ago, my mom called and ask me to try chiro since her friend felt a lot better after one treatment.. so I did go, with one exception!! No adjustment to my necks b/c my friend told me somebody died after doing the neck adjustment. I was so scared to death that i didn’t even mention to the doctor that i often had migraine/headache.. but he still could feel and know it anyway. so I gave it a try for neck adjustment, and actually… it wasn’t that bad at all.

and now, i’m typing this blog, i realized that i almost never have headache anymore *knock on wood*, my digestion gets a lot better, my IBS only comes when i eat something that my stomach can’t tolerate, my back pain almost goes away, and my knee pain only comes every so often..

But still.. it’s not 100% gone away =( I hope i’ll have a chance to see dr. Huang this year and see what will happen. I still love shoes especially high heels.. and maybe i won’t be able to wear all my collections anymore. Hiks.. oh well.. that’s fine. i would rather have pain-free knees than wearing high heels and getting more pains =p and i guess, girls/women still can look pretty with flats. hehehe.

One thought before heading to bed. which one would you choose? Brain or beauty? *i got this while having my breakfast at McD and they have this on their placemat. hehehe*

I’m sick of people who always judges someone by hers/his look!

another busy week

Filed under: Journal — polkadot at 7:53 pm on Saturday, March 17, 2007

Hmm.. it’s been quite a while i haven’t updated my blog. Not that i’m busy *actuallyy.. i am* I was trying to create my own blog from other site, so that i can have two separate blogs of my daily journal and my recipes collection. but oh well..  let’s just write on whatever i have now.

So.. this week i work 5 shifts! WOW! maybe it seems a few for you, but compare to my usual schedule this is A LOT! in fact, too many. I just realized it today when i barely could wake up even though i already had 9 hours of sleep. I went to work, and my coworker was like… "did you have enough sleep last night? you look so tired" *GUBRAK!* was it that obvious? i tried to cover up my under eyes with some concealer and i seemed didn’t help at all. hehehe. the good side of it.. i earn more $$ this week. hihihi.  *matre mode ON*

and finally today i had a chance to spend some time at my kitchen.. my comfort zone as i would call it =D i made Japanese cheesecake & Martabak kentang a la palembang. Will post the japanese cheesecake recipe shortly.. this is one of Narto’s fave cake besides my bolu pandan -or bolu ijo ..that’s how he refers it. hehehe.

PS: thanks to everyone who already made my birthday so special this year. I don’t have to tell who you are.. you guys know who you are *wink wink* It’s gonna be one of unforgettable memories i’ve ever had in my life. Thanks a lot! It really means a lot to me.

Reading Week

Filed under: Journal — polkadot at 8:05 pm on Sunday, February 25, 2007

Ceritanya mulai besok (eh udah mulai dr jumat kemaren sih) sampe hari jumat gue lg libur sekolah. Cuma seminggu sih liburnya.. reading week, tp gue gak ada yg perlu dibaca, jadi bakal jadi "eating and working week" deh. hehehe.

So far, gue udah kerja 2 shifts sejak hari jumat, dan episode kerja dan makan sutra bakal terus berlanjut. Berhubung manager gue berbaik hati kali ini, gue dikasih kerja 4 shifts, saking baeknya, four days in a row. apa gak gempor tuh? Tapi gak papa lah.. gue dgn senang hati kok, artinya i can save more $$$ dong. hehehe.

Makan sutra udah dimulai dr hari ini.. dimulai dgn Ben thanh. Tadi gue udah makan pho, bbq pork balls dan spring rolls, berlanjut jalan ke mall dan ngisi perut lagi dgn mango bubble tea. Stelahnya, perutnya mau meledak. hahaha.

besok, acaranya ke mandarin buffet, tmpt gue kerja. Kalo ditanya orang, apa gak eneq tuh makan disana, kan tiap hari ngeliatin makanannya? Engga tuh!!

Udah ah.. skrg mo lanjut nonton Oscar lagi. Jennifer Hudson menang!! YAAAAYY!!

Filed under: Kitchen — polkadot at 8:41 am on Monday, February 19, 2007

Masih lanjutan cerita edisi dapur jumat lalu yg bikin nasi uduk. hari itu juga gue sempet²in bikin ini. Kalo yg suka dim sum, pasti tau deh sama makanan ini. Lo Po Gau. (spelling?) Benernya gue gak doyan² banget, tp ini makanan fave Narto, jadi lah gue semangat belajar bikin.. ditambah gak tau ada angin apa, bisa pengen makan ini.. tp berhubung tmpt dimsum favorit gue udah tutup ya terpaksa nyobain bikin sendiri. hasilnya.. ENAK! tp komen Narto pas ngeliatnya "kok banyak merah²nya?" ahahaha. ya iya lah.. bikin sendiri, bisa tentuin sendiri kan dagingnya mau sebanyak apa. OK deh.. laen kali dagingnya dikit aja yah.. good, bisa irit jadinya.. LOL. Resepnya diambil dr buku The Food of China: a journey for food lovers, hasil hunting di Costco.

  6. Masukkan daun bawang, gula, rice wine dan merica. Aduk rata.
  7. Masukkan lobak, daun ketumbar, dan tepung beras. Aduk rata.
  8. Tambahkan 250 ml air campuran air rendaman. Aduk rata.
  9. Taruh adonan ke loyang persegi yg sudah diolesin minyak. Kukus selama kurleb 1 jam. Dinginkan adonan satu malam sblm digoreng.
  10. Cara menyajikan: Potong adonan selebar 1 cm.
